Join us in our Mountain Mindulness Series! In honor of Mental Illness Awareness Week, Maddie Miller partners with local mental wellness experts to bring the CMC a sequence of mindful mountain hikes! Our second hike of the series will be a Mountain Meditation on North Table Mountain, led by Mindfulness Coach, Michele Walter. Come for a fun loop hike to to the top of North Table, where we will commence in a short meditation session! All ability levels are encouraged to participate!

With the distractions of today’s society, being fully present can be challenging. Through this Mountain Mindfulness Series, we will immerse ourselves in nature to practice mindfulness so that we can learn to be more present in our daily lives. Mindfulness is a moment-to-moment awareness of our thoughts, feelings, sensations, and surroundings, without any judgment.  By practicing mindfulness, we learn to direct our attention in a particular and sustained way so that we can live more fully in the present moment.  “Come to the woods, for here is rest.  There is no repose like that of the green deep woods.” - John Muir, John of the Mountains: The Unpublished Journals of John Muir, (1938, pg 235).  

Michele Walter has been practicing mindfulness since 2013 and will complete her 2-year Mindful Meditation Teacher Certification Program in 2021. Through this journey, Michele has utilized mindfulness strategies to complete endurance challenges like Ironman and summiting Mount Rainier. She plans to use her certification to teach mindfulness to other athletes, including hikers and rock climbers. She’s also a dog mom to the sweetest pitbull ever, Winnie.


Bring lots of water and something to sit on. We will be doing our meditation on a large flat area on North Table. You could bring a small sleeping pad, yoga mat, crazy creek, towel, etc.  All abillity levels are encouraged to participate!
