Join us in our Mountain Mindulness Series! In honor of Mental Illness Awareness Week, Maddie Miller partners with local mental wellness experts to bring the CMC a sequence of mindful mountain hikes! Our first hike of the series will be a Mountain Yoga session on South Table Mountain. Come for a fun hike to to the top of South Table, where we will commence in a short 30 minute yoga sequence with Kris Miller! All ability levels are encouraged to participate!



With the distractions of today’s society, being fully present can be challenging. Through this Mountain Mindfulness Series, we will immerse ourselves in nature to practice mindfulness so that we can learn to be more present in our daily lives. Mindfulness is a moment-to-moment awareness of our thoughts, feelings, sensations, and surroundings, without any judgment.  By practicing mindfulness, we learn to direct our attention in a particular and sustained way so that we can live more fully in the present moment.  “Come to the woods, for here is rest.  There is no repose like that of the green deep woods.” - John Muir, John of the Mountains: The Unpublished Journals of John Muir, (1938, pg 235).  



Kris Miller, a mother of 3 adult children, has been practicing yoga for 25 years. She decided to pursue her Yoga Teacher Training in Hailey, ID where she did a six month 200 YTT with Beth Stuart at Idayoga. This past spring, she did a second 200 YTT at Full Circle Yoga School in the Florida Keys. Kris has also participated in yoga workshops with Colleen Saidman and Rodney Yee. Her passion lies with sharing mindfulness and yoga with young teens who suffer from anxiety and mental challenges. 




Notes

This Mountain Mindfulness Hike is open to all ability levels! If you have a yoga mat, bring one! Sleeping pads, Crazy Creek, or Towels work as great alternatives too! I will have some extra towels for anyone that forgets one. Make sure to bring water as well!
