John Raich,

The Freeway route on the Second Flatiron is an excellent beginner climbing route. Although this route is frequently climbed unroped as a scramble, the expectation on this climb is that the group will climb as rope teams. It is about 7 pitches and is rated class 4 with a few low class 5 moves with some exposure. The climb is rated 5.0.

Bring helmet, climbing harness, a couple of locking carabiners and slings or personal anchor system, a belay/rappel device, rock shoes if you have them. Approach shoes with sticky rubber soles work well for this climb. Bring a day pack, snacks, and water. We'll climb with a small pack. You should have some rock climbing training such as a CMC basic mountaineering course. Leader(s) will bring ropes and rock pro for the climb.

The number of participants who can be accommodated depends on the number of available leaders. If a wait list develops for this climb, leader(s) will schedule additional climbs of similar duration and difficulty. If you are willing to co-lead on this climb or similar climbs, please contact the trip leader.

This program is currently full. If you would like to be placed on the wait list please complete the form below. If a spot opens up you will be contacted.
