Meet at O'Fallon TH at 8:30 a.m. to avoid heat, possible rain. We're meeting at TH because it's probably easier than trying to car pool that short distance.

- From I-470, take Morrison exit.
- Follow Bear Creek Ave/Morrison Road  thru Morrison (Go 25 mph as they ticket here!) approx 8.1 mi.
- Watch for SECOND O'FALLON sign.
-Turn LEFT (Lines Ave) at SECOND O'FALLON sign (low at entrance) onto gravel road and drive clear back through two parking lots to last one, but turn right onto wooden bridge and park in next, upper parking lot. TH is there along with bathroom.

Instead of after-hike snack stop, we'll have an optional picnic at tables next to pretty Bear Creek if you bring breakfast or lunch!

FOR RMOTHG MEMBERS.  Because of heat/weather, we may only do the 3.2 mi loop in O'Fallon Park, a Denver Mountain Park, following a casual, RELAXED pace, starting at 6791', high point of 7451' for total elev gain of 660' on the West Ridge Trail to Bear Creek Trail and Cut-off. This is a moderate A hike but you'll still get two hours of good exercise if we only do 3.2 mi!  However, if weather cooperates, I'd like us to explore (No time to scout this part!) an extra 1.8 miles onto the Bear Creek Trail extension and small loop into Pence Park because it looks like fun, for a total of 5.1 mi (Probably adds an hour!)!

We start on shady West Ridge Trail -- a pretty, forested trail with lovely foothill vistas -- which is UP, not hard, but UP for approx a mile, then flattens as we enter Bear Creek Trail for the 1.8 mi extension into Pence Park and back. The other side of our loop, the Bear Creek Trail trending down, is more open so bring hats. We then follow the Bear Creek Cut-off down and back into shade, ending at pretty, gurgling Bear Creek, a pleasant reward for end of our hike! Thick clusters of aspen appear on this half of loop (The anticipatory-aspen part! Will they be turning yet?) so we get a bit of an early aspen hike, too! LOOK FOR TUES NIGHT EMAIL for important weather, possible time change info!  Bring breakfast or lunch for an optional after-hike picnic instead of a stop elsewhere!

Bring your usual essentials, plenty of water, snacks in case we do 5.1 mi instead of 3.2, breakfast or lunch for optional picnic afterwards, hat/sunscreen, FIRST AID KIT, ID/MEDS/VITAL INFO, and your usual flexible, cooperative, understanding selves for whether we do 3.2  or 5.1 mi!  If you've not hiked this trail, hope it'll be a delightful, close-by, get-away surprise for you!  Again, LOOK FOR TUES NIGHT EMAIL and bring breakfast/lunch for optional picnic by lovely Bear creek!

Sorry it is past the registration deadline for this event.
