Sandi Bianchi, 303 810 0794,

We will drive up the Weston Pass Road (County road 5), no 4WD required, about 8 miles.  The trailhead is on our left.  We will hike up Rough and Tumbling Creek to begin, cross a large meadow at the western end of the trail and then follow Rich Creek back to the Trail Head.  Good trail the entire way. Good wildflowers in summer; golden aspen in fall.

Rich Creek TH, 9,950 feet

Highest Point on loop, 11,560 feet

Pace will be moderate; we will keep pushing to complete the hike as mileage could be around 13 miles instead of 11.4. Lunch midway.

Bring plenty of snacks and water. Plan for a full day of adventure. We might not return Denver until around 6 pm.

Previous notes from 2016:

Left the Fort at 6:30. Arrived TH at 8:30 with a bio stop at the Loaf and Jug in Bailey.

For exploratory hike this went quite well. We had two incorrect turns, but realized our mistake and regained our path fairly fast. One at the beginning and one at the end. Also one just south of beaver pond on first half of trip. Went clockwise.

Finished hike at 3:30; arrived Boulder at 6:30

GPS stats on Jerry's GPS said 13.1 miles.

South Park Ranger District 719 836 2031

Notes from 9/27/2019: 13.1 miles and 2200 feet of elevation gain on Jeff Damp's GPS. Went counter-clockwise. On trail at 9; back to cars at 4:10. Saw moose in meadow one mile west of Rich Creek trailhead on scout. Saw bow and arrow hunters on trail on hike day and scout. Wear orange.

Sorry it is past the registration deadline for this event.
