Climbing Castle and Conundrum via the standard combination route.  I expect we'll be able to start hiking at or beyond the bridge at approximately 11,000 ft.  Expect a 8-9 mile round trip, 3,500 ft vertical elevation gain, difficult class 2 terrain, moderately fast pace.  Plan on minimum of 1,000 vertical feet per hour during the climb.  Bring an alpine axe and of course 10 essentials to include rain pants to be able to glissade down to the basin after summiting Conundrum.

I am traveling up to Glenwood Springs on Friday, Oct 4, for a meeting.  I'm departing northern Colorado Springs no later than 12:00 pm.  My appointment is at 3:30 pm.  After my meeting, I'll drive to Aspen, grab a bite to eat, and then car-camp in the dispersed camping sites 1 mile along Forest Road 102.

If you are not camping the night before, plan on meeting at the dispersed camping sites at 4:45 am.  We'll consolidate into 4WD vehicles and depart at 5:00 am.  Our goal is to park near the bridge at 11,000 ft and start climbing.  Returning to the vehicles, I will be driving back to Colorado Springs via CO 82 with a comfort stop/perhaps meal in Buena Vista.

Register with leader by sending me an email and describing 1) Alpine education (CMC or equivalent classes) 2) Experience this year on 13ers and above, or equivalent 3) Describe your weeky fitness regimen, and 4) Confirm possession of alpine axe
