I 70 to Silverthorne, Dillon exit to the Ryan Gulch Trailhead, where we will begin our car shuttle, leaving one vehicle at this location.

Directions to Ryan Gulch Trailhead; Go north on Highway 9 to the first light and take a left. This becomes the Ryan Gulch Road. Follow this about 3.5 miles as it switchbacks up the slopes past condos and mountain homes. The parking for the trailhead is on the south side of the road. The Ryan Gulch Trail is found to the right (east) of the parking lot.

We will then drive to the Meadow Creek trail head (last Frisco exit going west) and begin our hike.

From the Meadow Creek trail we will hike to Eccles Pass and then follow the grassy ridge to the westerly base of Buffalo to begin our rocky ascent to the peak. Prior to reaching the true summit of Buffalo there is a short Class 3 - 4 scramble.

Moderate pace, beautiful views of Lake Dillon. Bring warm gear. Strong hikers welcome. Breaks will be taken as a group. In an effort to be respectful to other participants if you are unsure if this is an appropriate hike for you, please discuss with the leader prior to signing up. Contact the leader with any medical concerns prior to the hike. Bring warm clothing, a HELMET and something orange as it is hunting season.
