We'll begin from the Meridian Trailhead at elevation 9,040 and hike a steady grade along established trail through pine/aspen up the Elk Creek drainage reaching a saddle at mile 3.25/elevation 10,720. Continue along the Meridian Trail and bear left at the intersection with the Cub Creek Trail. After another 1.5 miles through a forested area reach a second saddle at mile 4.75/elevation 11,410. Head .5 miles gaining an additional 415 feet south/southwest off trail and above tree line to the summit of Rosedale peak, elevation 11,825. Views of Rosalie Peak, Mt Evans, Mt Bierstadt and Mt Spaulding from the top.

Dress with layers and an outer shell. Gloves, insulating jacket, and warm hat should be in your pack, as well as the 10 essentials, 2 + liters of H2O, food, your personal medical kit, compass, and trail map. The first part of the hike is on south facing slopes and then continues on forested, north facing slopes. Traction devices recommended given variable fall conditions and the forecasted first snow of the season. PART OF THIS TRIP IS OFF TRAIL AND ABOVE TREE LINE.
