Meet Up:  8am Matthews/Winters Park Trail Head: 1103 County Rd 93, Golden, CO 80401

Drive Miles: 0

Mileage: 9, Elevation Gain: 1,300

Pace: 2 miles, 1000 feet per hour (moderate)

Equipment: 10 Essentials, Microspikes, Leash (dog booties/coat as needed)

Bring your canine friends for a nice up/down and then up/down again jaunt along Dinosaur Ridge into Red Rocks Park.  We will start at Matthews/Winters Park Trail Head and walk along the paved bike path, crossing Jeffco 93.  We then ascend steeply up to the Dokota Ridge Trail, eventually walking along the jagged rock single track trail along the ridge.  The trail drops down to Hogback Road.  We walk the road briefly, picking up Dokota Ridge Trail.  We will ascnd on the east side then descend steeply on the west side to Jeffco 93.  We will cross Jeffco 93 into Red Rocks Park Entrace 3 and pick up Red Rocks Trail.  We will ascend Red Rocks Trail along fields and dirt single track.  After the second high point, we will continue along Red Rocks Trail then Village Walk Trail back to Matthews/Winters Park Trail Head.

Note: All dogs must wear leash.  This trail is very icy (or muddy) in spots in the winter and microspikes are required and one treking pole is reccomended.  The trail is jagged rock or dirt single track.  Bring appropriate dog gear as indicated (coat, booties, water, food.)  Ridge can be windy.
