Gear: Everyone, please bring the “10 Essentials”, snowshoes and traction devices (i.e. microspikes). Practice attaching your snowshoes to your pack. I would recommend bringing ski goggles/ski gloves or mittens/ face mask in case we encounter higher than expected winds in addition to your normal summer gear as well as plenty of layers. Gaiters would also be a good idea. You will not be allowed to join this trip without the required gear.

Trip: From the trailhead, 8,900ft, we head west on the Saint Vrain Mountain trail through the trees. A small creek meanders south of the trail. At .6 mile, we enter IPW and will continue on trail climbing and traversing through the trees for 2.7 miles at which point we leave the trees (approx. 11,000ft) and climb another 300ft to the saddle, briefly entering RMNP. Here we find the intersection of Meadow Mountain (0.4 mile to 11,632ft) to the North and *Saint Vrain Mountain (1.2 miles to 12,162ft) to the South. Both of these peaks have rocky tops but I assume it is less than a CL I scramble. We may need our snowshoes at this point. If there is little or no snow, we can stash our snowshoes and turn towards either Meadow Mountain or Saint Vrain Mountain depending on the group interest and weather.

*If we continue to Saint Vrain Mountain, the trail circles the west side of a small peak, gaining the east ridge of Saint Vrain Mountain. White boundary markers can be seen to the top of Saint Vrain Mountain. Alongside these boundary makers is a user-created trail to the summit. At 3.9 miles, it intersects the unsigned Rock Creek Trail near the Saint Vrain Mountain Trail's highest point.

Our return will follow this same route back to the trailhead.

The estimated time for the hike may be 7.0 to 7.5 hours at a moderate (1.5-2 mi/hr) pace. Hopefully, th
