Location

Carpool and Trailhead Location: Four Mile Canyon Creek Trailhead (off of Lee Hill west of Broadway) by 3:30 PM. We will most likely head up Lee Hill to WagonWheel to the recently re-opened Anne U. White trail (and as parking there is limited, we will carpool).  Bring traction devices as the Anne U. White trail is at the bottom of a narrow and twisting canyon and won't see sun to melt off the snow and ice.

More information on the Four Mile Canyon Creek Trailhead can be found at https://bouldercolorado.gov/osmp/four-mile-creek-trailhead

Details

Sunset is a magical time! Join us for a fun, moderately-paced social hike, starting in daylight and finishing before pitch-dark. We usually aren't disappointed in the changing light show.  We will stop at a viewpoint and all are invited (but not required) to bring snacks to share (unless it is nasty out, then we will keep hiking!)

Conditions permitting, we will most likely head up Lee Hill to WagonWheel to the recently re-opened Anne U. White trail (and as parking there is limited, we will carpool).  Bring traction devices as the Anne U. White trail is at the bottom of a narrow and twisting canyon and won't see sun to melt off the snow and ice.  If snowing or recent snow, we will hike on the N. Foothills Trail and its spurs.

** We ended up hiking up the Anne U. White trail.  Due to a late start, most turned back but some made it to the end, coming down in the dark.  Good spikes were necessary as the ice was very hard (melt and re-freeze) and those with inadequate spikes turned back early.

To better track participation, please register ahead of time for this trip but it is also OK to show up at the carpool location.

Come prepared for any weather with good footwear, rain jacket, headlamp or flashlight, and traction devices if trails may be icy.  Option for after-hike food and drink at a nearby restaurant - most likely at the China Gourmet by Luckys off of Quince, and they are Cash Only.
