A classic Cameron Pass BCX/XC ski route.  This will be a point-to-point trip with a short car shuttle.  We will leave a vehicle at the Meadows parking lot and start our ski at the Zimmerman Trailhead five miles up the road.

This will be a casually paced trip. From the trailhead we will ski up ~600 feet to Zimmerman Lake area, do the loop trail around the lake, and then descend the Meadows Trail to Long Draw Road ~1200 feet below Zimmerman Lake.   Despite its name, the Meadows Trail mostly traverses rolling terrain through forested areas with several short but fun downslopes.  Total elevation gain for this trip is ~800 feet and the total descent is ~1400 feet.

Recommended gear: BCX.  More specifically, wider skis (>80 cm in the shovel) with metal edges, traction surfaces ("fish scales") and backcountry bindings (3-pin or nnn-BC) are recommended unless you are comfortable climbing and descending both packed trail and powder through trees on moderate slopes with lighter weight gear.  This trip has much rolling terrain and is not well-suited to AT or other skis without traction surfaces .  Kicker skins are also recommended in case the steeper portions of the track are icy.

If you want to join this trip with alternative gear such as nordic XC skis, please contact the trip leader to discuss.

Sorry it is past the registration deadline for this event.
