Details

Limited to Members of RMOTHG and Their Guests.
We will travel at a RELAXED, CASUAL PACE on a trail which is mostly flat for the first mile. The trail goes through meadows and wetlands skirting Geneva Creek with views of Geneva Peak and Square Top Mountain. We continue through a dense lodge pole pine and aspen forest. The Geneva Creek later becomes the Burning Bear Creek. At about 2.5 miles from the trailhead we reach our lunch spot near the remnants of an old cabin. After that we will return by the same route. We will have about 550 feet elevation gain from about 9,620 feet to about 10,186.

We will snowshoe or spike hike depending on conditions. We may not know ahead of time so the safest thing is to bring both. I will try to advise further about current conditons in my email on the day before the trip.

Notes

Bring your 10 essentials including warm layers, plenty of water, first aid kit, and completed yellow card (if you don't have one ask the leader for one). Plan on a full day. Check email the day before the hike for more recent trail conditions but bringing spikes and snowshoes is always safe and then you have options, at least at the trailhead.

PLEASE NOTIFY THE LEADER OF ANY MEDICAL CONDITIONS THAT MIGHT AFFECT THE TRIP by email or phone.

Look for an email from my account the day before the hike for weather forecast and updates about trail conditions.
If you need to cancel, please cancel online AND call or email the leader--303-596-5639 or sandy.mcrae1@gmail.com.
