Who's ready for a fun winter peak climb that's close by and free of avalanche danger?!

The snowshoe up to Legault Mountain is the longest and most strenuous hike in Meyer Ranch Park - especially on snowshoes (or microspikes). Even though the mileage is short, the trails are fairly steep. At the summit we will be rewarded with beautiful sweeping views to the north, east, and south.

Here's a very good and more detailed description:

Please bring all Ten Essentials , snowshoes and microspikes (I will let you know the conditions a day or two prior to our outing).

Please inform me ahead of time of any pertinent medical condition you may have. This will help me (and any medical personnel) to be most helpful to you in the event of an emergency.

Three of us did a "Wildcat" Snowshoe climb today of Legault Mountain at Meyers Ranch Park in Conifer.

Snowshoeing and weather conditions were excellent. We were very fortunate that the trails - including the "off trail" to the top of Legault - were packed down already. Otherwise, due to about 2 feet of snow on the ground, it would have been much more difficult.

While most of the route was gradual uphill, the final hump to the top of Legault was steep & strenuous (at least for us). But the summit is totally worth it as it has spectacular views all around.

Stats: We reached the summit in about 1 hr 50 min at a moderate pace. Total RT took 3.5 hrs (5 miles / 1200' elevation gain).

This is a great little snowshoe - and a great workout - close to Denver.

Sorry it is past the registration deadline for this event.
