We are going to Ruby Creek (sometimes called Ruby Gulch) which is on the way to Butler Gulch except you turn left at the Urad mine.   This is a peaceful trail just minutes from the crazed hoards at Butler Gulch.   You will need skins.

This trip is not limited to Telemark Ski School students but it would be great if TSS students, past and current, signed up.

If you have quesitons please contact me at the email or phone number listed.

The route starts at a small parking lot at the closure gate for Ruby Creek.   You follow a road/trail for about 1.5 miles.  Then we cross Ruby Creek and head up into the trees for some fun bushwhacking.  Never fear, it is only a couple hundred feet until you get to a mellow glade just at treeline.  But it is pretty steep.  We can do some laps in this glade if the snow is good.  On the way down you'll have to negotiate some trees (the ones we just skied up through) but it is a short distance.  On the way out we actually take the creek bed which can have really nice snow and can be fun.  Then we pick a good spot to exit the creek and have a little bit of side stepping uphill to reach the trail again.  Then we just ski the trail out.

Important:   If it snows a LOT we may not make it to the trailhead in which case our fall back plan it Butler Gulch.  I will send an update email a couple days before the trip.   I am going to need one more driver with a high clearance AWD or 4WD vehicle.  I can fit 3 other people in my truck if we put all of our gear in the back.

If you have avalanche gear (beacon, shovel, probe) please bring it.  Although we do not ski on anything more than 25 degrees it is always good to have the gear.   This is a backcountry ski trip so you must have the ten essentials as well as standard backcountry ski gear (pack, warm clothes, hat, gloves/mittens, water, etc).   If you are unsure please call me.

Sorry it is past the registration deadline for this event.
