Semi-exploratory. This is a long hike on a jeep road and open tundra to the ridge of 13’ers between Democrat and Quandry. Much of the hike is exposed above tree line. We will hike from Montgomery Reservoir to Wheeler Lake on the jeep road around the north flank of Mt. Lincoln, then hike on open tundra past cliffs, tarns and old mining sites to the south slope of Clinton Peak. From there we will decide to summit Clinton Peak or Traver Peak depending on snow conditions. We will consider the ridge walk if the ridge is snow free and we have perfect weather. From Traver Peak, we will drop back into the basin and hike down the same route. Class 2, 10/3,300’. Register with leader.
