Description: In her book, The Best Hikes in Colorado, Christina Williams writes: “Giant rock formations tower above the landscape, creating an individuality and wild grandeur rarely found so close to large centers of population.”  Spend time in the area where Lost Creek is “lost” in granite tunnels. Hike into a scenic area of granite domes and formations and incredible views.

Itinerary: Day 1.  From the Goose Creek Trailhead continue on Goose Creek for  4 miles where we can visit historic buildings and have lunch. From there it is another 25. miles to the junction of Goose Creek with McCurdy Park Trail. Here, we leave the Goose Creek trail and continue .5 miles down hill on the McCurdy park trail to Refrigerator Gulch, where we will cross the lost creek on a set of logs and make camp. (7 miles, 2300').

Day 2. From our campground ascend and descend the rocks in refrigerator Gulch for 2 miles and then steeply climb to an unamed pass at 10,900', from here we join the Brookside McCurdy trail going south.  In 1/2 mile we drop down to Hay's Creek to camp. This is the last reliable water until Hankins Pass in 4.9  miles. (6 miles,  3000')

Day 3. Today we hike for .4 miles where we turn left on the Lake Park trail, and climb 1.0 miles to our high point at11,540' with options to hike over to "Tarryall Peak" (11,760')  for better views of the rock pinacles the area is known for. From Goose Creek campgroiund.(9.2 miles 1250')

General Requirements:  A self-issue permit is required at the trailhead. This si
