Description: 3 day backpack to Cathedral Lake. The hike is considered challenging, but the rewards from the high-alpine lake are worth every drop of sweat equity.

Itinerary:

Day 1: Morning drive to trailhead, and backpack along Cathedral Lake trail to Cathedral Lake.  Setup camp in a suitable spot in a wide campground area.  Expect about 2.7 miles, 2,100' elevation gain.

Day 2: Options to climb a Centennial - Cathedral Peak, or 2 other 13'ers, Leahy Peak, Malamute Peak; or fish, hang around camp and explore.  A hike to Electric Pass, (highest foot trail pass in Colorado), is 4.8 miles, 1700' elevation gain round trip.

Day 3: Day hike, same options as day 2.  Break camp mid-afternoon and return to trailhead.  Home in the evening.

General Requirements: A permit is required for entry into the Maroon Bells Snowmass Wilderness. These are free and can be found at the trailhead register boxes. Group size is limited to 10 persons.
