Notes

A simulated situation allows backpackers to borrow or barter for any gear needed that was forgotten, but simulation does not allow backpackers to return to the car in which they arrived until the next morning.

Campground Amenitities:  Group site picnic tables; toilet, large well drained tent area

Campground Rules:  Each car needs a Colorado State Parks Pass or a Day Pass; no dogs, quiet time 10 PM to 6 AM

Camground Parking:  Limited to 6 cars; ONCE YOU LEAVE THE VEHICLE YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO RETURN BECAUSE THE GEAR CHECK IS INTENDED TO BE A SIMULATION OF THE FIRST NIGHT OF YOUR BACKPACK TRIP.  YOU MAY BORROW, BARTER,OR SHARE WITH OTHER BACKPACKERS FOR FORGOTTEN ITEMS.

GEAR:  Bring your backpack loaded for a two-day, one night trip.  Even though you may not be eating breakfast  or lunch in camp on Day 2 you should bring sufficient food as though you were backpacking to your car on Day 2 and would return to your car at 6pm. This will allow backpackers to realize the amount of weight potentially required for a BPX trip of two days, one night.

If you carry a camp chair on your backpack trips then it is is allowed for the Gear Check experience.
