Details

Mt Audubon is the 6th highest peak in the Indian Peaks Wilderness, and one of the few with a well-maintained trail to the top.  There are great views of Indian Peaks and Rocky Mountain National Park high country.  We will start on the Buchanan Pass Trail from the Mitchell Lake trailhead at Brainard Lake, then we'll take the Mount Audubon Trail to Mt Audubon.  More than half the trail is above treeline, and the final half mile is through a talus field, so be prepared for a moderate yet deliberate pace.

Please note that we must arrive at Brainard Lake Recreation area before 8 AM in order to avoid the day pass system.

You are encouraged to "register" for this trip through the services of Meetup.com.  Look for the group "Groovy Hiking and Snowshoeing".  The event has the same name as this one. You get several advantages using the Meetup interface, including one-click addition to your electronic calendar; one-click posting to social media; seeing who else is on the trip and messaging them privately (without exchanging email addresses).

Notes

The Bobcats’ mission is to ensure a variety of challenging CMC trips, mostly on weekdays, all year long, for our mostly 50+ constituents. We don’t have dues or elections and we invite ALL CMC members to sign up for any Bobcat trip. You can search the CMC Calendar for Bobcat trips any time by selecting “Bobcats Section” in the CMC Trip Calendar “Section" pull-down menu. We send out a monthly email to our members with all the coming month’s trips, just after those trips are activated. To join our free mailing list and become a member, select the "Bobcats Section" anytime in your Member Profile (Log-in>Members>My Membership>Member Profile).
