Details

Day one: Monday June 28--arrive/rendevous at trailhead at approximately 11am.  Gore Creek trailhead directions: take exit 180 from I-70 (about 4mi east of main Vail town exit), as you exit go south and onto Big Horn Rd, drive east on that road 2.3 mi thru residential area; road turns NE and crosses under I-70, then makes curve to east/SE. Parking area for trailhead is on this curve.   Will make decision on ice ax/traction devices at trailhead.  We will hike in to Deluge Lake via trail #2014 (left at trail junction short distance from trailhead).  Hike in to Deluge lake (4mi and 3050 vertical--steep trail!).  Set up camp at Deluge Lake (11,759).  This is above treeline, bear canisters or proper food storage device needed!

Day two: Tuesday June 29--climb Grand Traverse peak (13,041) first via it's east ridge, class two climb.  We will then traverse east to Mt Valhalla (13,180)--class 2+.  Depending on conditions, continue on to Snow peak (13,024) from Valhalla--short class 3 stretch during this traverse. Reverse route back to Valhalla/Snow saddle, contour down to Deluge Lake and back to camp, camp for second night.  Total for day: 4.5mi/2700 vertical

Day three: Wednesday, June 30. Break camp, pack out back to trailhead, drive back to either Montrose (or where ever your home area might be!).
