We start at Hermit Park, Larimer County Open Space. This trail offers panoramic views of Mount Meeker, Longs Peak, the Continental Divide and the Mummy Range The elevation gain is a little over 900; with a short, easy class three scramble to get to the summit where we will enjoy a 360 degree view. We will hike through scattered aspens and ponderosa pine trees, and climb gradually up to an open landscape overlook of Estes Park and the first view of the Mummy Range to the northwest. After this overlook, the trail flattens; Longs Peak and Mount Meeker come into view toward the southwest then the Continental Divide north of Longs Peak. After a short scramble through a notch in the rock to a fairly flat summit we will enjoy spectacular views in all directions.

A great hike with CMC friends, after over a year of CoVid. Weather was fantastic warm in the sun, but cooler in the shade. Some fellow hikers on the trail, but did not seem overly crowded. After the brief scramble we had the top to ourselves for a leisurely lunch break before heading down followed by smoothies in Estes!

Sorry it is past the registration deadline for this event.
