This trip is for 2021 ACS Team grad climb

Climb of Long's Peak via the North Face (Cables Route).

Trip Preparation and Risk Mitigation

1.  Keep an eye on the weather forecast the week before the climb (https://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?lon=-105.61466686427593&lat=40.256283372847605#.XMZixJNKg1I).

2. Keep an eye on the CAIC avalanche danger forecast (
https://avalanche.state.co.us/).  Determine what avalanche concerns we are likely to face.

We'll be climbing in our boots and crampons

Gear - All participants should come prepared with their Ten Essentials, adequate amounts of water and snacks, and appropriate outerwear to protect themselves from the possible effects of cold, wind and precipitation. Snowshoes and/or microspikes may be needed.

Individual required gear (in addition to 10 essentials):

- Snowshoes, microspikes (we will assess need for snowshoes at the TH)

- Avalanche gear is possible, but unlikely (beacon, probe, shovel; we will assess avy conditions prior to the trip and during our ascent of the North Face.)

- Mountaineering boots, crampons

- Helmet, Ice Axe

- Harness with essential gear

- FRS Radio (tune to 7-11) if you have one

Optional gear, but highly recommended:

- Trekking poles with snow baskets
