The CMC Leadership Project

What is the CMC Leadership ProjectWhat is the CMC Leadership Project

The CMC Leadership Project is a statewide program to invest in our volunteer trip leaders and school instructors and recognize them for all their hard work. Together, they take our nearly 6,500 members on over 3,000 outings annually and teach 3286 members in our schools. Our volunteers create a community of responsible outdoor enthusiasts in Colorado. The CMC wants to give back by providing opportunities for training and skill development to volunteers to support and appreciate our leaders, building capacity in the CMC.

How to participate in The CMC Leadership Project?

To take part in the Leadership Project, you must be a Club member and certified trip leader or instructor. If you are not a trip leader or instructor yet,  no problem. Let us help you get there so you, too, can take part in this program. While each group has specific requirements for becoming a trip leader, generally, we recommend you have the following qualifications:

  • Be a current CMC member that is at least 18 years of age
  • Have been on at least five (5) CMC group outings
  • Current certifications in Wilderness First Aid (WFA) and CPR
  • Attend a trip leader school or seminar
  • Lead a "check-off" trip with an existing trip leader there to certify you are ready to lead

Again, these are recommended qualifications. Each group has their own qualifications for trip leaders, so please reach out to your local Group to find out specifics.
