Jan Robertson leads on a Women's Wednesday Trip in the 1970s

I’ve been a member of the Colorado Mountain Club since 1952. One of my first outings with the Club was to the San Juan Mountains. During the day, we were thrilled to climb the local Fourteeners: Sunlight, Mount Eolus, and Windom. In the evening, we listened to long-time mountaineers talking about a recent climb up Denali by a new route, and what to do about pesky porcupines destroying the salty wooden handles on their ice axes.

I couldn’t have had better tutoring about mountains. I was surrounded by knowledgeable mentors who shared their wisdom. I met my husband, David, through the CMC, and eventually we moved from Missouri to Colorado, where we raised our family. Through the Club, we introduced our three kids to hiking and skiing, and made dear, long-time friends.

"The CMC field trips are often students' favorite part of the school year. They get hands-on learning experiences that allow them to view the outdoors as a way to lead a physically active lifestyle."

Your donation will fund our most pressing issues, such as:

  • Modernizing and diversifying our mountain sports categories to meet the demands of today's Coloradans
  • Inspiring and investing in our volunteers leaders by offering continuing education, high-quality training, & recognition
  • Providing more opportunities for underserved youth in Colorado to explore, learn, & experience the outdoors

This cannot happen without you. With your personal commitment, the CMC will thrive in 2020 and beyond. Will you join me today in supporting a lifetime of progression?

“This was one of THE most memorable and positive experiences [my child] has ever had. She still talks about it all the time! She did things she’d never experienced before. This program connected her to nature, and now she keeps talking about environmental conservation and how we all need to help. She also made many new friends that she still talks to. Thank you, CMC!”

Colorado Gives Day

Colorado Gives Day is Tuesday, December 10, 2019

Colorado’s largest day of giving, Colorado Gives Day, is taking place on Tuesday, December 10, 2019. On this day, thousands of people come together to support Colorado nonprofits like ours.

When you donate to Colorado Mountain Club, you’re helping us raise crucial funds for our educational programs to support a lifetime of progression. Today's youth will become the mountaineers and mentors of tomorrow to continue our tradition of getting Coloradans outside safely and responsibly to explore our wild places.

Please help us reach our goal of $70,000. Thanks to the $1 Million Incentive Fund from Community First Foundation and FirstBank, your donation goes further on Colorado Gives Day. Each dollar donated is proporitionally matched from the $1 Million Incentive Fund, making your donation's impact even greater.
