Join us for our Annual Pot Luck Dinner benefiting the Eckart Roder Education Fund

Monday, April 22nd

5:30PM- 8:30PM

Enjoy an evening with CMC friends Monday April 22nd while supporting important CMC education programs! Bring a dish to share and continue to build Eckart Roder's legacy through the Club's Education Fund.  The dinner price of $15 is a tax deductible contribution to the Eckart Roder Education Fund. Additional gifts are welcome. Purchase tickets at the bottom of this page.

The 2019 dinner program will include the usual reports from the past year's grant recipients, and then a special presentation by long time CMC member and volunteer Craig Patterson.Craig has been a CMC member and dedicated volunteer since 1990.  He has instructed for Denver Group Trekking, Avalanche, Cross-Country Ski, HAMS, and Alpine Scrambling Schools.   He led High Altitude Mountaineering Section trips to climb high peaks in Ecuador, Bolivia, and Argentina.  Craig is truly a climbers' climber:  he has completed all the Colorado 14ers,  all the  13ers, and has gone on to finish the highest 800, with his ascent of Meadow Mountain on September 26, 2017.   And for good measure, he completed  all 50 US state highpoints. Craig is also the author of the book "Mountain Wilderness Survival" (1978).

Craig's presentation will recount his time as a climbing/rescue ranger in the US National Park service, detailing technical rescues in Grand Teton and Yosemite National Parks where he was a ranger from 1977 to 1989.  He will show photos and recount some of the over 100 search and rescue operations that he completed in those 2 parks.  He will also give his thoughts how  rescue techniques have evolved, and how we can avoid such problems in the backcountry.
