The CMC’s Brainard Lake Cabin is a completely volunteer managed and maintained rustic cabin. There are daily and close-up chores that everyone needs to help with. It is a small cabin with no privacy and an even smaller kitchen area so be prepared to be extra considerate, cooperative, self-organized and consider meals that just need boiling water. The cabin is well equipped with solar powered lights, pillows, sleeping pads, pots, pans, hand grill (for the wood stove), propane burners, wood cook stove, plates, bowls, and utensils. We will boil creek water. Bring a pillow case, slippers, 3-season sleeping bag and food.

There are choices of routes in (scenic trail vs. easier road) which we will make at the trailhead. They are the same length, but the trails go up and down. Mark likes his sled, so that will be part of the decision (and March can mean bare spots on the road).

If you use The Photographer’s Ephemeris, you should use the Geodetics and determine when the morning Sun will hit the peak of Mt. Audubon and when the Moon will set over the Divide. We will then have a determination of who got it right.
