We will skin up the Saints John road up into Montezuma Basin.  There are numerous slide paths along the way, so trip destination may be changed if avalanche danger is significant. Once we are in the wide basin there are numerous options and we will decide as a group where to go.  Determining factors are weather, snow conditions, comfort level, and safety.

You should be able to comfortably ski blue slopes at resorts and have at least some experience in backcountry.  You should be familiar with your gear and make sure it all works and fits.

You must have taken AIARE I or equivalent and be ready and willing to participate in decision making.  This includes studying the CAIC report the morning of the trip. We will stay in a group, always being in sight of each other.

Bring warm clothes, face protection, sun screen, food, water, 10 essentials, skis, skins, poles, beacon, shovel, probe.  Snowboarders will need to bring snowshoes for the uphill.  Ski crampons recommended but not required.

Pace will be moderate, but let's take an occasional opportunity, weather permitting, to stop and enjoy the scenery.

COVID regulations are in effect.  Please refer to CMC COVID regulations posted on the CMC website

More information will be sent out a few days before the trip.
