Winter

 

Winter Hut Trip

Spend a long weekend in the winter backcountry!  Join us for a wintry expedition to the CMC's Brainard Cabin. Enjoy three days of snowshoeing and exploring the remote expanses of Brainard Lake Recreation Area. Learn avalanche awareness and safety skills, route-finding, backcountry snow travel techniques, build snow shelters, hang out around the wood-stove fireplace.

Ages: 13-18

 


Spring

 

Spring Break in Moab!

  • March 26-30, 2018

Make this Spring Break an adventure! Join YEP Teen Ventures for 5 days of camping, climbing, hiking, river sports, and fun in the gorgeous surroundings of Moab, Utah. Visit breath-taking Arches National Park, climb the famed Ice Cream Parlor and Wall Street crags, paddle the Colorado River, sleep out under the starry desert sky, and more!

Ages: 13-18

Maximum 8 participants.

Includes transportation, meals, lodging, NPS admission, instruction, and any necessary gear.

 

 

Summer

 

 


Teen Ventures' Outdoor Leadership Summit

Have what it takes to lead? Join Teen Ventures for its flagship 5-day camping and outdoor skill-building retreat, set in stunning Golden Gate Canyon State Park! This program is designed to teach the basics of group management, rock climbing site safety, wilderness first aid, and teambuilding facilitation, as they pertain to outdoor leadership.

Take advantage of this unique opportunity to hike, camp, climb, and play games with other teens, while gaining important training necessary to pursue jobs in the field of outdoor leadership! NEW: Participants will receive a Wilderness First Aid (WFA) certification, accredited by the Emergency Care and Safety Institute.

Ages: 14-18.  Maximum 10 participants.

  • June 11-15, 2018.

Includes transportation, meals, lodging, instruction, WFA certification, and any necessary gear.


Teen Ventures Backcountry Trekking

Explore the vast expanses of the remote Flat Tops Wilderness Area on foot! Find your true potential with 6 days of backpacking and advanced outdoor leadership skills. Teens lead each other while learning about their personal leadership style and skills. Live in the wilderness, summit peaks, and discover you can travel further than you thought possible!

Ages: 14-18.  Maximum 9 participants.

  • July 23-28, 2018

Includes transportation, meals, backcountry permits, instruction, and any necessary gear.


Teen Ventures Multisport Road Trip

Experience the best of Colorado!  On this this 5 day trip we’ll spend our days climbing, hiking and paddling in some of the state’s most iconic places.  Evenings will be spent around camp where participants will play games, cook, assist with chores, and share stories.  Course instruction will encourage decision-making and teamwork in a small co-ed group environment. 

In 2018 we’ll be heading to the Penitente Canyon, Great Sand Dunes National Park, and the Arkansas River!

Ages: 13-16. Maximum 10 participants.

  • July 9-13, 2018

Fall

 

Wilderness First Aid (WFA) Basic

Age: 14-18

Dates/Time: Saturday & Sunday 9:00a-1:00p

This 8 hour Wilderness First Aid (WFA) Basic class helps backcountry explorers expect the unexpected and be able to act appropriately. This hands-on training provides information and experience in how to handle common injuries and illnesses when far from definitive medical care. Designed for outdoor adventurers and those who spend time in remote locations, this training will enable you to identify, assess, and respond accordingly to an emergency situation.  No previous first aid training is required.
