SUMMARY:Summit 2026 – San Luis Peak - Northeast Ridge
DTSTART:20260801T060000Z
DTEND:20260802T055900Z
DESCRIPTION:To commemorate Colorado's 150th anniversary\, Colorado Mou
ntain Club is leading groups up all the 14ers in the state! San Luis
Peak reaches an elevation of 14,023 feet and is located in the La Gari
ta Wilderness in the San Juan Range. This peak is moderately difficult
\, not because of its technicality but because of its length\; it is r
ated as a class 1 climb\, but is 11-16 miles long depending on route c
hoice. For this event\, we will be doing a loop. We will start from
the Eddiesville Trailhead\, where you could have camped the previous n
ight. To start\, we will backtrack on the road and turn left to get to
the Stewart Creek Trailhead (0.4 miles). Then\, we will begin our asc
ent hiking up the Stewart Creek Trail #470 to San Luis Peak at 14,020
ft (6.4 miles) which is the standard Northeast Ridge route. For our de
cent\, we will hike down on the San Luis Peak Trail #465.5A (which is
part of the South Ridge route) until the intersection with the Skyline
Trail (1.2 miles). We will turn left at the intersection onto the Sky
line Trail #465. This trail will take us all the way to the Eddiesvill
e Trailhead (8.3 miles). For more information\, visit 14ers.com https:
