 c. The route is a figure 8 within the Bear Creek Lake Park that begins
  and ends at the Mountain View shelter. The first segment is a beautif
 ul 6.5 mile loop around Bear Creek Lake with a total gain of 270 feet.
  The second optional loop is more difficult. It adds an additional 5 m
 iles and 500 ft elevation gain and includes the ascent of Mount Carbon
 . Total distance 11.5 miles with 770 feet total elevation gain.
