***NO HARES PLEASE***

Too much turkey on Thanksgiving?  Need some exercise to walk off all that food?  This is  the hike for you.

Let's meet at 9:30 am at the parking lot for Aiken Canyon Open Space. We'll hike Aiken Loop, take the Canyon Spur into the canyon, and the Overlook Trail to see the sights.

Please bring your ten essentials along with ample food and water (at least 1 1/2-2 liters), warm layers, and ice walkers per trail conditions.  Please be prepared for muddy, snowy, and/or icy conditions.  If conditions merit, you may also wish to bring gaiters.

Driving directions from Colorado Springs: From I-25 and south Nevada, drive south on Nevada Avenue (Hwy. 115) past Ft. Carson and Cheyenne Mountain State Park approximately 12-14 miles toward Penrose, Colorado.  Turn right at Turkey Canyon Ranch Road and then turn right onto the dirt parking lot of Aiken Canyon Preserve.  (A statue of a white stallion rearing up will be on the left/east side of Hwy. 115 just before you turn right.)

If you wish to carpool, please contact me at least 24 hours before the hike.  I can meet you at the Safeway parking lot at the junction of South Nevada and Cheyenne Road, 1920 S. Nevada.  Please contact me at sheindk@yahoo.com, at (H)719-635-7720, or at (C)719-510-6699.
