Hiking – Orbital Trail - Segment 1 - First Half
For Rocky Mountain Over the Hill Gang members ONLY. We will hike the first half of segment 1 of the Denver Orbital Trail (DOT) – Golden to Lookout Mountain.

The DOT is a walking route that makes a full circle around Denver. Segment 1 starts in downtown Golden at Vanover Park. We’ll walk along Clear Creek Trail and then climb up Lookout Mountain on the Chimney Gulch trail. https://www.alltrails.com/explore/map/segment-1-golden-to-apex-park-a42b4dd?u=i&sh=bhqvqk (NOTE: we are only doing the first half of this hike.)
Toilets available at the Public Library (0.4 mi), Windy Saddle (3.5 mi), at the summit of Lookout Mountain (4.9 mi),
Carpool: Since the distance between trailheads is short and several of us will be driving, there will be no carpool cost sharing.
We will meet at 9:00am at Vanover Park in Golden. This hike will involve a car shuttle and there will be more details in the pre-hike email.
Required Equipment
Make sure to have clothing layers as we will go from a walk along a paved path to hiking up a mountain. Bring hiking poles if you use them. Bring a snack/lunch and plenty of water.
