AIARE 2 Lecture Day – American Mountaineering Center

Lecture: AIARE 2 - Denver

AIARE 2 Lecture Day – American Mountaineering Center

THIS IS AN AT HOME ZOOM LECTURE SERIES. IT IS NOT AT THE AMC. IGNORE THE MAP. In AIARE 1, the focus was on learning about the AIARE Decision Making Framework. In the AIARE 2 lectures, you can expect a deeper dive into all things snow and a case or two for review. The lectures will provide a structural foundation for your three field days.

A Zoom invitation will be sent prior to the lecture date. Materials related to the course will be stored under the Materials Tab on this Activity page.

The AIARE 2 Lectures are lecture and discussion segments. Some review of the AIARE Decision Making Framework, deeper dives into the snowpack, the avalanche hazard, weather and forecasting, a case study or two, and building a tour for Field Day 1. We'll be touching on all the the AIARE Decision Making Framework components: tracking the season, building the trip catalog, planning a trip & routes based on the weather forecast, the avalanche hazard and terrain choices, managing the team and  debriefs.

Further details will be sent out as we approach the course date.
