COVID-19 Protocols and Code of Conduct

At the Colorado Mountain Club, the safety of our members and staff is our priority. We have closely monitored expert sources and shared pertinent developments with our membership throughout the pandemic. All of our decisions regarding programming at the CMC continue to be with the health and well-being of our members and staff top of mind.

Update November 1, 2022:

As precautions and concern about the Covid-19 pandemic have waned in the public eye, CMC will continue to follow CDC and Colorado State guidance.

Jefferson County and the majority of Colorado have had low community levels of Covid-19 since the summer and continue to trend down. For more community information by county see the CDC Covid-19 Data Tracker

  • Colorado Mountain Club and the American Mountaineering Center have dropped all requirements around masking, testing, and limited capacity across all departments.
    • Anyone may choose to wear a mask at any time.
    • CMC Youth Programs staff and instructors will wear masks around students when in close spaces/proximity to youth.
    • Youth Programs Students are asked to follow their school guidance.
    • CMC staff and Youth Programs students in camps are still required to show proof of vaccination (or current negative test)
  • CMC Volunteer Leaders and Instructors still have the authority to follow more restrictive guidance for their events, programs, and trips. Any requirements for participation need to be published with registration for the class, trip, or event so folks know what to expect.

  • CMC and the CDC still strongly recommend that you stay up-to-date with vaccinations and test and wear a well-fitting mask if you have any symptoms or have been exposed to someone with Covid-19.
  • Please follow the CDC guidelines for isolation and what precautions to take if you have been exposed, tested positive, or are feeling unwell.

  • As always, be kind and take care of yourselves and each other!

Update from February 23, 2022:

Jefferson County removed their mask requirements effective Friday February 11, 2022

we will do the same at the CMC and AMC.

Masks will no longer be required but will be recommended in CMC offices and in the AMC building.

  • CMC Youth Programs will still require students and youth instructors and volunteers to wear masks in the building.
  • While the CMC and AMC no longer require masks, testing, or reduced capacity, our valued CMC Leaders and Instructors still have the authority to follow more restrictive guidance for their events, programs, and trips. Any requirements for participation need to be published with registration for the class, trip, or event so folks know what to expect.
  • As a reminder, COVID 19 still exists in our community. Please follow the CDC guidelines on what to do if you have been exposed, tested positive, or are feeling unwell.

Thank you for taking care of yourselves and each other in this CMC community!
