Cancellation and Refund Policy

The Colorado Mountain Club adheres to a strict cancellation and refund policy. Please review this page carefully before making purchases or signing up for programing. No refunds are granted 7 days or less prior to any activity. CMC operates trips and courses year round in all Colorado weather. CMC is not responsible for transportation to and from starting locations. Please use your best judgement when traveling. If your plans change communicate with your leader/instructor first.


Colorado Mountain Club membership is not refundable.  CMC may consider cancellation requests on a case by case basis.  Please call CMC Golden office at (303) 279-3080 or e-mail: for more detail.

Paid Trips (Including Adventure Travel and RMOTHG)

All requests for cancelation must be emailed to the trip leader of your paid trip (Adventure Travel Program Manager,, RMOTHG Leader listed on trip) or called into the CMC Golden office at (303) 279-3080.

  • If a qualified, wait listed, person is available to take a vacated slot and pays all money due, all payments made by the canceling party will be refunded less the administrative fee (35% not to exceed $30). If no one is available to take a vacated slot, no money will be refunded.
  • Any other expenses the trip incurs due to the participant’s cancellation including, but not limited to: late change fees or other charges by the outfitter/guide service, room change fees including single supplements, airline fees or re-ticketing fees for the included flights, optional trip extensions, etc. will also not be refunded.
  • No refunds will be granted 7 days or less prior to the start date.

The Colorado Mountain Club will make every effort to carry out this trip. However, if the trip is canceled by the Colorado Mountain Club, all money collected from participants, including any “non-refundable deposit” shall be returned. The participant will not be reimbursed for any purchase made for the trip or other expenses that the participant may have paid in association with this trip, which includes equipment purchase, airline cancelation penalties or medical inoculations.

Youth Programs Adventure Camps and Courses & Afterschool Programs

  • Cancellation requests made prior to 30 days before the beginning of this camp will be processed with a $30 handling fee.
  • Cancellation requests made within 30 days of the camp will be refunded at 50% of the amount paid.
  • No refunds will be granted 7 days or less prior to the camp unless it relates to COVID.  
  • If CMC cancels the camp for any reason, a full refund will be issued.

School Registrations

  • Cancellation requests made prior to 7 days before the course: Full refund less 35% of fee paid up to $30 OR full credit can be transferred to a future session of the same school without incurring a processing fee. This can only be done one time and applies to courses on the calendar at time of cancellation. If a future session is not available, then a refund will be issued less the aforementioned fee.
  • No refund will be granted 7 days or less prior to the course. No credit will be allowed for future classes. 
If CMC cancels the class for any reason, a full refund will be issued, or credit given as requested. Please expect 5-10 business days for payment by check or back to credit card. Fees paid for school material or supplies are not refundable.  In limited circumstances, other accommodation can be determined on a case-by-case basis.  CMC encourages students to communicate his/her extenuating circumstances to the school director. 

Ticketed Events

Before purchasing tickets, carefully review your event and seat selection (if applicable). Tickets bought through are fully refundable for 3 calendar days (72 hours) after your purchase date, up to one week before the show. There are no refunds or exchanges available one week before the show with no exception.  You may do one exchange per person, per event. Tickets purchased at the CMC office must be returned or exchanged at the office; Exceptions to the 3-day refund policy include VIP, premium tickets, tickets purchased through an auction or resale, tickets purchased with additional related items and/or bundled products.  In addition, we may occasionally offer tickets at a discount after the original on sale date and will not refund the difference between the original price and the discounted price. Please note that the 3-day refund policy will not apply where we determine, in our sole discretion, that the tickets were purchased for a commercial purpose or in any other way in violation of our Terms of Use. Colorado Mountain Club is not responsible for lost, stolen, damaged or destroyed tickets.

You agree that you will not attempt to evade, avoid, or circumvent any refund prohibitions in any manner with regard to tickets you purchased. Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, you will not contact us to seek a refund or exchange from us when we are prohibited from providing one by a third party, and you will not dispute or otherwise seek a "chargeback" from the company whose credit card you used to purchase tickets from Should you do so, your tickets may be canceled, and we may, in our sole discretion, refuse to honor pending and future ticket purchases made from all credit card accounts or online accounts on which such chargebacks have been made, and may prohibit all persons in whose name the credit card accounts exist and any person who accesses any associated online account or credit card or who otherwise breaches this provision from using our Site.
