Incident Management Field Day - Boulder - 2026

Risk Management Course

Risk and Incident Management

Although incidents rarely occur during CMC events, leaders must be prepared to deal with them. Incidents do not occur only on CMC backcountry trips, they can occur during CMC activities anywhere. This field day offers leaders a chance to learn to "bring order to the chaos" via a systematic approach to managing an incident under varying circumstances.

Join the Boulder Risk Management School in an Incident Management Field Day. This scenario-based activity will equip leaders (both trip leaders and instructors) with the skills needed to handle an incident which might occur during any CMC event. This systematic approaches teaches leaders to manage the incident by assigning roles (first aid, get help, bivy/team care) to participants while maintaining oversight of activities. The course also provides information on the CMC's Emergency Action Plan, something all leaders are expected to know.

Leader Permission is required for this event in order to give priority to Boulder Group Trip Leaders/Instructors. Only Boulder Group Trip Leaders/Instructors will be approved for attendance through 15 Aug, after that time attendance will be open for anyone.
This course is free to Boulder Group Trip Leaders/Instructors. A discount code will be provided prior to sign-up, please contact the Course Leader for information.
