Scramble Skills Day – Twin Sisters TH

All students must successfully complete the Scramble Skills Field Day to participate in scramble trips. Scrambling requires dry weather. In the event we need to reschedule for weather, instructors will work with students to schedule an alternate weekend.

  • Carpool/Parking Contribution: 
    • $27 (68 miles RT/divided equally among students: cash/digital payment)
      • NOTE: DEN ASC honors our all volunteer leaders by not including them in the carpool/Parking Fee contribution
    • Pack for a regular scramble trip (all required gear). Remember your printed map and a compass (see CoAssemble assignment #1)! 

  • Student Skills Field Day will focus on: 
  1. Scrambling Techniques: Hand/Foot Placements, Mantle, Layback, Stemming
  2. Rock Travel: Talus/Scree
  3. Navigation and route finding
  4. Protection/Gear: Chest Harness, Personal Anchor, Prusik Hitch, Belay (DEMO)

Meeting Place: Sheridan Station Park and Ride: 8820 Sheridan Blvd, Westminster, CO 80031

Meeting Time: 6:00am (Be early and ready to drive away at 6am)

Trip Start: Twin Sisters trailhead (RMNP) at 7:30 AM.
