Field venue:  We will advise you where we are planning to go a day or two before class day with updated weather and venue info.  Where we go will depend on snow conditions (and if there is snow). South Sourdough near Nederland is our backup venue.
Why enroll in this class?:  Snowshoeing is a great way to enjoy local trails and keep up your hike conditioning all winter long.  It truly is almost as easy as walking. And it doesn't require a huge investment in the clothing and gear needed to get started. This class is offered FREE to CMC members to ensure they have the skills necessary to access the snowy backcountry.

We will meet at the equipment hut at the back of the CMC Building parking lot (against 9th street) at 8 AM to handout snowshoe kits and organize carpools. We will talk for about a half-hour reviewing the equipment and describing choices to make when buying and preparing for the day.  We will leave for the venue after that.

NOTE: CoorsTek is no longer available for our parking due to its imminent redevelopment, so please park in the AMC Lot from now on.

Required Equipment

Come dressed for a day in the snow (and possible wind), and bring your ten essentials including a water and lunch or hardy snacks.

The snowshoe kit does not include boots, because any water resistant boots will work. Wear your own waterproof/winter hiking boots and high gaiters.

If you have questions about this, please send them to cmcbeginnerss@gmail.com.
