TCS Intro to Crack Climbing

Bomber hands, finger locks, fist jams, ring locks, rattly fingers, tight hands. Does any of this sound familiar? Come learn these useful techniques that can be used in all styles of climbing.

Location:

  • Indoor Session: Boulder Rock Club, Boulder CO  6:00 PM - 9:00 PM June 18th
  • Outdoor Session: Boulder Canyon, Avalon 3rd tier Crack Land June 20th 7:00 AM to 5 pm.

Course Description:
Cracks, the art of climbing what's not there. We all know how to grab and climb up holds, but what if there are no holds, just a fissure in the rock? In this class we will go over unfamiliar techniques such as using your hands, feet, and body as a jamming devise, how to lock in a jam, keeping your body in line with the crack and more!

Course Highlights:

  • Indoor Session: Our evening session will take place at the climbing gym the BRC in Boulder. The upstairs wall has a myriad of different sized cracks, while the downstairs has a long perfect hand crack.  We'll cover techniques such as hand jams, finger locks, foot placements, as well as the importance of body positioning and movement efficiency.
  • Outdoor Session: On June 20th, we'll take our skills to Boulder Canyon, Avalon third tier This full-day session will allow you to apply the techniques learned indoors to a variety of crack sizes and types, with plenty of hands-on practice under the guidance of experienced instructors.
