This completes the learning taking the online components and applying them in the field.

Before departing, CMC Leaders will participate in a 1-2 hour lecture that solidifies learning principles in the online portion. Following the lecture, participants will caravan to the field portion.

The field exercise allows students to use slope meters to determine potential avalanche-prone terrain and non-prone avalanche terrain as well as to determine route findings. These techniques can be taught with or without snow conditions.

Meet at the Grand Mesa Lodge at 8:00 am

We will do the classroom portion of the course at Grand Mesa Lodge.   The classroom portion entails presentations and hands on route planning activities.   After we finish the classroom portion, we can have lunch and head over to Skyway Trails and snowshoe on the trails and discuss the terrain features and safety considerations related to what we see.
