This EXPLORATORY out-and-back hike to the summit of Green Mountain in William Frederick Hayden Park begins at the Green Mountain Trailhead, following the Green Mountain Trail as it climbs steadily through open grasslands and rocky, undulating terrain. The route gains approximately 850 feet of elevation over about 5 miles round trip, with moderate, sustained ascents, embedded stone steps, and exposed sections that can be windy and sun-baked before reaching the broad summit and its sweeping views.
