Description:  This is a skill building loop hike starting at Borea Pass TH with Class 1-2 scrambling up the west side of Boreas Mountain across a boulder field.  We will stay on the western side of the ridge until we reach a large gully, then regain the broad ridge just below the summit.  Our return is via the Black Powder Pass Trail with more route-finding to reach the trail, likely navigating through thick willows between the ridge and the trail. This Ascending Hike focuses on traveling on alpine tundra, route finding, following a route on an app or map, an easy intro to scrambling, working through willows, and high altitude hiking.
