Ascending Hikes - Skill Building – Stanley Mountain from the Berthoud Pass Trail West

This is a Skill-Builder Ascending Hike open to ALL CMC members WITH PREFERENCE for those wanting higher elevation start (11,315), with a focus on switch backs. This is a 7.5 mile out-and-back hike.

This is a skill building hike in which we will start at a higher elevation with most of the hike above treeline.  We will focus on exposure at alpine hiking, elevation gain and switchbacks.  This is an out and back trail and plan on taking 5-6 hours.  

The trail starts at the top of Berthoud Pass (restroom available). About 1.5 miles in there is a series of 15 switchbacks and then the trail becomes gently rolling as we enter the Vasquez Peak Wilderness area. We hike the ridge with 360 degree views and enjoy panoramic views of Winter Park area and the Continental Divide.

Meeting place and time:
We will carpool from the Wooly Mammoth Park-n-Ride  39.7583040, -104.8895108   next to the Morrison exit on I-70 (Section BB) at 6:30AM for an immediate departure.
