Ascending Hikes - Skill Building – White Ranch Park

Let's take a leisurely stroll through the bucolic White Ranch Park. The shaded trails, challenging trails, and stunning views offer everyone a wonderful way to spend on the trail.

  • Elevation Gain: 767 ft
  • High Point Elevation: 7,400 ft
  • Maximum Wind: 15 kts
  • Pace: 1-2 mph

1) The participating trip leaders will assist me in the skills building portion of the hike: (a) map and compass navigation; (b) Ten Essentials; (c) Leave No Trace principles; and (d) first aid.   

2) We'll travel from the White Ranch West trailhead along the NB E. Rawhide Trail, across the Wrangler's Run trail, and ascend to Point 7,549. We may either continue to Sourdough Springs Campground OR start back to the trailhead via the WB Wrangler's Run Trail and the SB W. Rawhide Trail. Our route selection depends on group dynamics, weather forecast, and skills training.

8:00AM: MEET: Colorado Mountain Club, 15605 W. 32nd Avenue, Golden, CO 80401      8:15AM: Form carpools and depart to White Ranch West Trailhead, 25373 West Belcher Hill, Golden, CO 80403. 12:00PM-1:00PM: ANTICIPATED trip completion!

(1) Ten Essentials, Ten Essentials (U.S. National Park Service) I recommend you bring as many of the Ten Essentials as possible. This hike will provide a teachable experience to explore what other hikers bring for a simple day hike.
