Backcountry Skiing/Splitboarding – Jones Pass Road
Tour up Jones Pass tomorrow with flexible objectives depending on conditions. There is fresh snow in the area, but expect variable skiing with some wind effect at higher elevations. The Colorado Avalanche Information Center forecast for the Front Range indicates the potential for wind slab development, particularly above treeline on leeward aspects, so we’ll be watching for signs of recent loading and avoiding suspect terrain. I have a known safe descent route planned, and we’ll prioritize conservative terrain choices throughout the day. Ski crampons and boot crampons are required given the potential for firm or wind-affected surfaces. Expect a fun day out, but with a safety-first mindset and willingness to adjust plans as needed. https://caltopo.com/m/4RV70N1
