Trip
Backpack – Crystal Lakes
One night backpack to Crystal Lakes near Mayflower Lakes; both are near Breckenridge. Backpack from Spruce Creek TH to primitive camping area about 2 1/2 miles. 4WD road on which we will be backpacking is quite narrow and steep. Do not recommend traveling on this road unless drivers are extremely experience and vehicle is narrow. Options to day hike to Lower Crystal Lake and Upper Crystal lake.

Driving directions: I-70 West to Exit 203, travel south to C0 9 for approximately 2.1 miles, turn at a sign title "THE CROWN". You are now on Spruce Crk Rd (CR 800), proceed uphill dirt road for .1 mi, bear left on main road thru intersection. Travel about 1.1 miles to Spruce Crk TH parking area. Spruce Crk Road is generally rutted with pot holes.
The 4WD road to the upper gate is very, very rocky and only smaller 4WD vehicles with high clearance can make it.
We will hike about 2.5 miles to a primitive campsite in the trees with water available another 1/2 mile up the TH.
