Bike – Bear Creek Lake Park

This ride is for RMOTHG members attending our Summer Picnic. The route is a figure 8 within the Bear Creek Lake Park that begins and ends at the Mountain View shelter. The first segment is a beautiful 6.5 mile loop around Bear Creek Lake with a total gain of 270 feet. The second optional loop is more difficult. It adds an additional 5 miles and 500 ft elevation gain and includes the ascent of Mount Carbon. Total distance 11.5 miles with 770 feet total elevation gain.

Riders can decide after the first loop if they want  to continue the ride up and over Mount Carbon.

This ride is on paved bike trails and includes a short section on a paved road.  Both class I and class II eBikes are allowed on the paved trails in Bear Creek Lake Park.

We will meet at the parking area for the picnic at the Mountain View Shelter. Please arrive at 9:15 for a prompt start at 9:45.  https://maps.app.goo.gl/qWKCD3zzpNTgWDGx5 This should give us ample time to return in time for the picnic.

There is a parking charge of $5.00 per car which you will pay as you enter the park - be sure to say you are with the Rocky Mountain Over the Hill Gang group and ask for the senior rate.

Gear Kit:  Helmet Required!  Be Self-Sufficient!  In addition to water and energy snacks, carry a spare tube and inflation device, multi-tool, appropriate clothing & footgear, sun and eye protection, and first aid supplies.
