Bike – Cherry Creek, Highline canal, Dartmouth, Platte River loop

From The Original Brooklyns restaurant we will ride to Confluence Park. Then we will continue on the Cherry Creek Trail to Downing St. to Washington Park to Franklyn St. to Dartmouth Ave. to the Platte River Trail. We will then ride north on the Platte River Trail to complete the loop.

This ride is for RMOTHG members and guests. Guests may participate in two activities before joining RMOTHG, but they must either be a CMC member or sign a waiver by registering as a Guest on the CMC website.

The ride includes 11 miles on paved bike paths and 6 miles on roads.  Please do not sign up for this ride if you are inexperienced and not used to bicycling in groups on busy roads.

We will meet across the street from "The Original Brooklyns" restaurant (2644 W Colfax, Denver, CO 80204) at Lot S or V of the south parking area at Empire Field at Mile High. This is free parking to accommodate the restaurant's patrons.

Please arrive at 8:30am ready to ride at 9 am sharp. 

After the ride, there will be an optional lunch at Original Brooklyn's.

Helmet - will not be allowed to ride without one.
Closed-Toe Shoes or other cycling-specific shoes
Clothing for changes in weather
Sufficient water and food for the length of the ride
Personal First Aid kit including identification and medical card
Flat tire repair kit with spare tube(s) to fit rider’s bike, inflation pump and/orCO2 cartridge(s) and knowledge of their use
Small tool kit to perform minor bike adjustments
Smartphone for finding a route back to your car, also for emergency contact purposes
Consider wearing bright clothing and using front and rear strobe lights for improved visibility 

Rules for Safe Riding: Practice situational awareness, common sense, and courtesy.

  1. Ride behind the leader and ahead of the “sweep” (rear leader).
  2. Inform the leader or the sweep if temporarily or permanently leaving the ride 
  3. Ride single file and to the right to accommodate oncoming cyclists and allow faster riders to pass.
  4. Always obey rules of the road
  5. Use hand signals/arm signals to inform riders behind of your intentions
  6. Keep a safe distance back from the rider in front of you. 
  7. When stopping, move off of the roadway, so others can pass safely. 
  8. Announce warnings like “Rider Back”, “Rider Up”, “Passing on Left”, “Passing on Right”, or “Stopping”, as needed.
