Bike – DeKoevend Park to Hampden Ave via Highline Canal

This is a ride for anyone in the club who is interested in riding the Katy Trail in Missouri this fall on the Big BAM (Bike Across Missouri). This year it's being held October 11-17. For today we'll meet at Julia DeKoevend park and ride the Highline Canal trail to Hampden and return. This section of the canal is crusher fine not pavement.

Preference on this ride will be given to anyone in the club who is interested in riding the Katy Trail in Missouri this fall on the Big BAM (Bike Across Missouri), or to anyone who has ridden the Katy trail in the past. This year Big Bam is being held October 11-17. For today, we'll meet at Julia DeKoevend park and ride the Highline Canal trail to Hampden and return.

Meet at 7 for prompt 7:30 departure from Julia Dekoevend Park. The parking lot I like to use is on the west side of University Blvd across from E Weaver Avenue, and can be accessed from either direction on University Blvd . Be aware the address listed for the park in google maps will not get you to this parking lot, but the pin on the map in this trip will get you there.

Required Equipment

Required Equipment

Helmet - will not be allowed to ride without one.
Closed-Toe Shoes or other cycling-specific shoes
Clothing for changes in weather
Sufficient water and food for the length of the ride
Personal First Aid kit including identification and medical card
Flat tire repair kit with spare tube(s) to fit rider’s bike, inflation pump and/orCO2 cartridge(s) and knowledge of their use
Small tool kit to perform minor bike adjustments

Sunscreen, Sunglasses, Lip Balm
Smartphone for finding a route back to your car, also for emergency contact purposes
Consider wearing bright clothing and using front and rear strobe lights for improved visibility
